If you love horses, then this Del Mar arts and culture activity is for you. The Del Mar Thoroughbred Club is not just a racetrack; it is a prestigious club with a glamorous and exciting history. Hollywood celebrities often visit the racetrack, which was originally developed by some of the biggest names in Tinseltown. The original owners/builders of the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club were Bing Crosby, Jimmy Durante, businessman Charles S. Howard, and Pat O'Brien.

The club was once home to the world famous horse, Seabiscuit. Seabiscuit was owned by Charles S. Howard himself, and while the horse became a national icon for horseracing fans across the United States, injury led to disappointment. However, Seabiscuit managed to make an amazing comeback and an award-winning book, Seabiscuit: An American Legend, and award-winning movie, Seabiscuit, were written about this star of the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club.

San Diego Museum of Art at Balboa Park
