It is a pleasure to write of my experiences with Dane Soderberg. Dane and I first met when I received a mailing regarding Pacific Platinum’s property management services. This was probably in 2004. I met with him and found him very personable and willing to work with my wife and me in renting our home in La Jolla as a short-term rental. He brought in other people from his firm who helped with the necessary interior improvements to make it suitable for short term renting. This process worked well and they stayed well within budget and kept us informed and involved in the process. The subsequent period of renting our house went well and I would recommend Dane as an excellent agent. He tended to the inevitable problems promptly and allowed us to maintain a hands-off relationship with the house’s rentals.

Along the way, I decided it would be appropriate to consider putting the house up for sale and felt willing to part with the house if a sufficiently motivated buyer were to come along. I was clear in this degree of motivation (or lack of) regarding the sale of our home and Dane was agreeable to try to sell the home on this basis. It is on this point that I think Dane makes his integrity most clear. I think it not unusual for a real estate agent to seek listings on the seller’s terms but then to pressure to seller to lower the price to make an easier sale. It has been noted that an agent’s 3% vs the seller’s +/- 90% proceeds from a sale make the agent’s interests and the seller’s somewhat out of sync. (Eg, dropping a million dollar home to 900K results in the agent losing $3K but the buyer loses $90K.) At no time in my several year relationship with Mr. Soderberg did he try to assert his interests at my expense by deviating from our original agreement. He kept me grounded in what price would make a quicker sale and what comparable homes were selling for but always presented this information in an objective manner which was free of bias and manipulation.

In conclusion, I think you are lucky indeed to be considering Dane Soderberg as your agent or property manager. In addition to his integrity that he showed over a several year period to be an integral part of his personality, he is a fine family man and team player.

Dane Soderberg, was of tremendous help to us in selling our property. The location was a unique property that needed a particular, qualified buyer for a sale to occur. Dane found such a buyer for us and was instrumental in negotiating a successful transaction. The time and energy involved on his part to complete the deal was significant in the current real estate market.
